GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is European Union (EU) law that creates the framework for data protection and privacy for all individuals within the EU. It also addresses the export of personal data outside of the EU. The guidelines and regulations created by GDPR are designed to give citizens more control over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU. Under the terms of GDPR, organizations must ensure that personal data is gathered legally and that an organization gathering that data protects it from misuse and exploitation. Fines for failure to comply with GDPR regulations can be up to €20 million, or 4% of the entity’s worldwide annual revenue of the prior financial year.
