Every organization knows that effective security incident response is critical to reducing risk and damage. Yet having an actionable plan that is accessible by the right people at the right time is challenging for most. In the Ponemon Institute’s “Cost of Data Breach Study,” they noted that organizations with an incident response team and use of encryption can reduce the cost of a data breach by $16 per stolen record, from $158 to $142. The study also noted that the longer a breach goes unchecked, the more expensive it gets. If a breach is contained in less than 100 days it costs an average of $3.23M. A breach that takes more than 100 days to contain costs an average of $4.38M. The bottom line is: security incident response teams can make a dramatic impact with the right preparation and tools.

“We talk to enterprises every day who struggle to get their security incident response plan into a form and function that works for everyone involved,” said Julie Preiss, Senior VP of Marketing, Rsam. “This topic resonates with organizations regardless of their industry or size. We think it’s important to give information security professionals an opportunity to hear from experts so they can learn best practices that may elevate some of the stress that comes with their job.”
